Learning Log 7

I am the director,so i pretty much did not act.As a director,I think I was not the best.This is my first time being a director and I will learn every mistake I made.Some of my group members were not satisfied with my job,as i can't attend every rehearsal.I tried to explain to them I have a festival,my culture,it is Hari Raya,but they seem to not understand.But I must say, they really worked hard.Racheal,Teo Xin Yi,Joanne and Matthew should get the credits.
I think our performance was well, everything went well and everyone did a fantastic job.Juliet(Teo Xin Yi) cried after the performance but i really think she was fabulous.Romeo(Joanne) acted well too!Capulet(Mark) was terrific!His gestures and expressions was the thing that made him outstanding.Cousin(Racheal) was impressive!Tybalt(Matthew) was a total shock, he was not a hot-tempered guy,but his character was the total opposite.He shouted when he act as Tybalt,wonderful!Benvolio(Glenda) could be more expressive but 'he' did great!Nurse(Cindy) costume was great and her acting was better than I thought.Lady Capulet( Yi Jun ) was as graceful as a swan.Last but not least, Serving man( Yu Han ) , for this role,you need someone who have mastered the art of balancing glass wine, and he is the one in our group who has the skill.

I have learnt that being a director is not as easy as what i thought,Director is not the easiest 'role'.You need to have leadership skills.I'm having a hard time as I am a layback person,I do not like to get involve in almost anything.But I pushed myself to get involve in the discussion.Sorry guys for not having the best director.

I really would like to let my juniors to have this opportunity and have R&J performance.My group and I now have a strong bond that is , I don't know how to express it.But I really recommend this to my Junior.

We have learn t some Literary devices such as Simile,Gustatory,Tactile,Visual and many more.Each of them containing different meaning and we,without realizing, always use Literary Devices.It is actually a imagery and figurative language.We use them in Prose and Poetry.Repetition is one of the common Literary Device that we use.It is to stress on that word so that the person reading it will understand.But there is another Literary Device that is most used,simile.Simile is used as the persona wants the reader to visualize the situation.Other Literary Devices like Kinesthetic,Auditory,Metaphor,Personification,Olfactory and Symbol are still used.

I have learnt that doing an unseen poem is not difficult . There are 3 steps that will help you to approach to an

unseen poem. Step Number 1,you must understand the overall meaning of the text.Given any text,you need to
understand what the text is saying and you have to identify subject matter and overall mood of the text.Step 

Number 2,do a close reading and question yourself,what literary devices does the writer use to convey

 meaning to the reader,why does he choose these devices,what effects do these devices create on the text and
what effect do these devices have on reader.Step Number 3,provide a philosophical insight and an

informed,personal response. What is the message that the text is trying to convey to the reader,what is the

effect of the text on the reader,how do you think the reader may feel after reading the text and what issues

about the world and human nature does the text highlight.


By following this 3 Steps.You will find reading an unseen poem easier.

Learning Log 4

Today,our class,2 Integrity performed a Macbeth scene.We were so busy when school ends.I and 2 other friends,Ruth Lai and Wong Yu Han were in a same group. Then,we were preparing for our presentation,like make-up.Nazirah helped us with the make-ups,she drew a long lash on my right eye,and a scar on my left cheeks,all thanks to her! Then,the performance started,with Ken's group being the 1st to perform.Everyone did great!I felt that many people had confidence in their performance,which is a very good sign.Overall,I think everyone deserve a good result.

Learning Log 3

Regarding act 1 scene 1 of Macbeth, the 3 witches, they were planning to meet with Macbeth upon the heath.I drew 3 witches,of different size.All my friends workpiece are very creative and nice.Not like mine,I need an improvement.I do not really act 1 scene 2 lesson.It was very confusing,it was like another language that they are talking,does not seem to be english.I grouped with Oh Rui Yun,Teo Xin Yi,Chen Ling Shan . We discussed about a sentence and every came out with a good idea.

The lesson was very fun,Mrs Woo could make a voice of a witch!Oh my god!That is the most scariest voice i have ever heard


Discussion on superstition:
It was very fun to see my friends writing funny superstitions quotes.I mean it is weird,example,if a black cat pass by you,it means bad luck,but that is what the meaning of 'superstitious'.




Presentation on superstition:
Our group did not get a chance to perform the superstition.But this lesson is very very fun!


I like this lesson,it made me feel in Singapore,as Singaporeans have many superstitious things to share!

QUESTION 1


I have learnt that cinquain have 5 lines.It was quite interesting writing cinquains , I laughed when i wrote a cinquain about 'literature'.Every line have different rules, Line one - Title[One word] , Line two - Description[two words] , in each of the description words there must a comma , Line three - Action[Three words], in each action words , it must end with a '-ing' and also in between each word there must be a comma , Line four - Feeling[four words] , Line five - Reflection on the title.

It was quite hard at first as I never ever have interest in literature,but it went well after Mrs.Woo thought us,i think,she is a very good teacher.She make us do things in group,which really helps us to share ideas with one another
